The Twin Cities’ Hispanic population more than doubled between 1990 and 2000. We were the eighth fastest growing Hispanic city in the United States during the nineties. The light rail system is in how many languages? Four? English, Spanish, Mong, and Somali… My question is: how do you feel about that? Does it feel threatening, or exciting? Do you feel possessive of culture and place, or do you feel like God might be at work here, doing amazing Kingdom possibilities? Who are you? What governs you? What’s at the root of your being? Do you feel resentful that the old earthly stabilities are being shaken up? We have a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, and it isn’t our culture. It isn’t America. It isn’t WHITE. It’s God, and it’s the Gospel.

John Piper, “From Bloodlines to Bloodline”

Can I just talk about how amazing it is that he is preaching this sermon in conservative Texas? Crazy. That’s shaking a hornet’s nest. I love it.

Final road trip for Tim and Sherah before they leave for Thailand, to join the fight against human trafficking. Best friends since we were ten. Love these people.

i thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes

(i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun’s birthday; this is the birth
day of life and of love and wings: and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth)

how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any–lifted from the no
of all nothing–human merely being
doubt unimaginable You?

(now the ears of my ears awake and
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)
